Deborah Bolton has always been intrigued by art; she believes that art is in everything and can touch everyone. Deborah’s earliest memories provide a snapshot of her first art lessons, from mixing paint in her Grandparent’s hardware store to sketching and building bird houses with her father. Deborah recalls her Grandfather Thorvald’s engineering sketches intriguing her the most. Through her teens she painted and worked on murals, stage sets, and completed watercolor and pen and ink illustrations at her local high school. Upon graduation she attended Moore College of Art on scholarship for approximately two years. At that time she married a pianist and had three children.
For Deborah, part of raising her family meant letting them express themselves through art as well. While her kids were at school she was able to achieve her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts at Camden County College. She also began working as a graphic artist at South Jersey Newspaper Company, where she spent fifteen years and became the Senior Computer Graphic Artist. During that time was recognized for several pen and ink/watercolor illustrated ads. After over twenty years of marriag Deborah and her husband divorced in 2002; this became a pivotal time in her life and for her art.
